We made it out of California! Seven weeks after moving out of our house & into our 5th wheel full-time, we finally made it out of California! It was a weird feeling for me, remembering our excitement moving out here so long ago & how much has happened since. We came out here as young 20-somethings with our pup, Maizey. And now we’re making our way back in our 40’s with kids (and a different dog). I feel fortunate. It was also strange, because Vegas was somewhat where our new adventure began.
The drive from 29 Palms to Las Vegas: barren. But, moving day is exciting. There’s the unknown of a new city, new park, new adventure, new people, new experiences. We finally saw a tortoise – resting in the road (& prayed it would make it across safely)! We passed the Amboy salt flats & were caught off-guard by what looked like an enormous, burned mound & surrounding area. I googled it & learned that it was a crater that formed almost 80,000 years ago, & the black land we saw surrounding it was lava (it actually covers 24 square miles). And, the wind picked up!

After setting up home, we headed to the strip for dinner & some city hiking. We ended up walking 5 miles that night!

The next day we headed to Hoover Dam. We made dam jokes all day, & so did the workers & tour guides. We learned so much!
