37. Arches NP, Hike Day 1

We headed into Arches National Park for a full day of exploring. We were shocked at how dramatic the park is from the second you pull off the highway. The towering red walls & rock formations greet you immediately. As we made our way through the park, we stopped at some of the pull-off viewpoints, like Park Avenue, Courthouse Towers ( & Sheep Rock), & Balanced Rock.

We then drove to Wolfe Ranch to hike to Delicate Arch. The entire hike I kept imagining that ranching family of 7 living in that log cabin out here all alone.

The hike to Delicate Arch was hard, hot, & sunny – but absolutely worth it! We saw petroglyphs – & saw a snake slither along the path and JUMP into a bush!

We then drove to hike to Landscape Arch & had a trail picnic there. We were also confused as to why this wasn’t called Delicate Arch, since it’s so much skinnier.

By the time we finished our hikes, I could barely move. I didn’t even get out of the car to see the Fiery Furnace overlook – but TJ did!

Chase’s model kit came, & he was so excited – we’re all missing some of our hobbies that we can’t really fit into life on the road, but we’re finding ways to improvise! We showered & drove into Moab to The Backyard Theater to see a bluegrass band. When I checked my health data that night, I realized why we felt so exhausted!
